When analyzing freetext data, usually it's like a box with sand: no shape, hard to weight and structure it. I don't refer to specific cases like picking testimonial quotes, but to analyze data received via freetext. I don't want to go into the discussion on "why" would you collect data via freetext, let's just say sometimes you need to, especially when you want to hear all voices.
The best way I found to put some structure to freetext data is to mark each answer in one or more categories, or tags. Then you can pivot the data into counters for each tag and there you have: a multi-choice answer based on freetext data. You could remove the counts of 1 if irrelevant or pick the highest counts. This can be done in an excel manually, but since Netigate offers the nice reports shared via a link, why not put it there as well?
1) So I imagine a feature to give possibility for each freetext response to tag it into a new or existing user defined tag (for that question only).
2) Then as the data gets structured, to be able to add table and charts with possibility to filter, just like for multi-choice questions.
Optional things could be build upon:
3) You could set that the answers with less than X counts to be omitted from the chart or table, or to be put into a separate "others" category. X should be configurable by the user.
4) You could be able to see all together the answers corresponding to a specific tag. Just like you click now on "answers", but to be able to separate the tags. Maybe a filter on the tags in the current "answers" window. Alternatively, separate "answers" buttons for each tag.
5) In a raw data report, i believe the tags could occupy an extra column.
6) I believe multiple tagging could be useful to someone, although I think it's not necessary.
